I have a few questions regarding CF cards; I have been trying to find the answers by searching the forums, but I am not finding what I need.
Firstly, my 40D was shipped with a 133X 2GB CF card. Does that qualify as a I,II,III or is it different?
Secondly, for an amateur photographer, does it make a big difference if one uses a II or a III? Reason for asking is that the prices on the IIs are pretty good right now :).
Thanks!!

I shoot an 8GB Extreme III and have a 2GB Ultra II as a backup. Only if I exhaust 17 RAW frames is the Ultra II even the slightest bit slower.
Now pulling down on an external reader, you'll notice more.
I think a few people have done some extensive tests. Essentially, if you want the best to the camera's maximum capability, Extreme III (Extreme IV isn't faster for a 40D). Save a little money? Ultra II is still very, very good.

The I II or III is sandisk card specifc, it's what they use to differentiate between the cards speed, in the case of the high speed models.

Thanks, simwells.
How does 133X fit in to the I,II,III thing?

Depends on brand really

This site is really useful for comparing overall speed of cards though.

Is a 8 Gb Ultra II too slow for the canon 40D in burst mode

There is no diffinitive answer to this question, you will get a few less shots than with a higher speed card, before you get "busy" coming up, but it's up to you if that matters that much or not.
