Where can I find more info about the new BG-E2, such as size, weight, etc...?

Thanks

Pierre

Can someone post a pic of the BG-E2 with and without the 20D?

I haven't any pics online of it on it's own, but here it is attached to my 20D....

I wish I'd taken one from the side to show how deep it is (a little more than the length of a BP511 battery).

Neil,

Thank you for these pictures.

Does it add much to the camera's weight?

In other words, would you carry the camera around your neck with the grip attached?

Do you leave it on all the time?

It doesn't add much weight, but it definitely increases the size! (which I like). I don't leave the grip attached all of the time; I actually prefer the smaller setup if I'm using a smaller lens (28-135). For such as the big, HEAVY 70-200 2.8, the extra "grip" is great. Also, having twice the battery life can be very useful.

I think the vertical grip is a great add on, but is twice the battery life really necessary on the 20D? I don't know about you, but I've taken over 1,000 pics with my 20D so far over the past 8-9 days (only maybe 30-40 with the flash), played around extensively with the LCD, and have yet to recharge the battery. In fact, the indicator on the LCD still shows it as being full!!!!

Just curious, but has anyone had to recharge their 20D battery yet, not counting a top off?

The advantage of the grip, IMO, is the additional controls when in the vertical (portait) mode. I also think the grip gives the camera a more solid, professional feel. Battery life isn't really an issue, although I have, on occassion, totally drained the batteries on my 10D w/grip when shooting a festival or other event.

As do I at just about every convention that I attend. It will be interesting to learn how the more efficient 20D - with the two BP511As, holds out.
