Hi,

I'm about to buy a hi-res 17" macbookpro.
Apple offers it with normal or glossy screen.
Which one should I choose?

I mostly shoot sports for local papers and I'd use this laptop to post process images before I send them.

There's pros and cons to both, I guess.

I went for the non-glossy one and haven't regretted it at all. Photos look great on screen.

I'm in the same boat. I absolutely love my matte screen.

I have a glossy screen on my (non-pro) MacBook, and I don't like it for photo editing. You can see a lot more detail, which is good, but I have found that some of my edits that look great on the glossy screen (particularly dark evening or night shots) turn out not so great on my matte LCD on the other computer, with a lot of the detail becoming just another dark spot.

I put a lot of my photos online for family and friends, so any time I'm editing on the MacBook I have to remember that the finished version will look very different on the web for other people than it does on my screen.

When I get my next Mac, I will do my best to get a matte screen, as long as Apple still has them available.

I have matte, glossy is great for watching movies, but I think for images you'll want matte. Go to the Apple Store and look for yourself.
