As you can tell, I am still processing the 1416 images from our trip to Wyoming. Both of these were taken in the corral. Obviously, two completely different looks, but to my reckoning, the abstract nature of them ties them together. Please critique. If possible, please expand on *why* you do or don't like them. (Assuming, of course, that there is a reason.)
Thanks,
Rad
To preempt the obvious critique on the lack of central subject, I was NOT aiming for one. I was trying for an "ocean", or wave after wave of horses. For this shot I wish to say THANKS to Jim-Jam who's post "Which Horse" gave me the idea for this type of shot.

Who knew that horses could have blue eyes? I didn't, which is why this appealed to me. But I think the leather of the bridle adds an extra texture and serves as a nice counterfocus.

The first one is outstanding. It has a strong "country" spirit and reminds me of an adverising - "Come to the land of Marlboro"
The second one - I don't know. Something's wrong with the eye expression - it's somehow affraid and sad.

Hey Radtech!
I was looking at your first shot, and it wasn't quite giving me the "sea" effect (although I still really like it). However, I think it can be improved. If you crop the top of the shot so that all that dirt is gone and then the top of the shot is close to that top left horse's eye, it really does look like a sea of horses because all you see is horses and nothing else. Try it and see what you think.
As for the second shot, that's pretty wicked looking. If that's the effect you're going for, I think I would do a tighter crop on the eye. Cut off a good portion on the left and maybe even a little on the right and bottom. Along the lines of what ecobo stated, there's definitely something "wrong" here, but that could still work for a good shot since it's better that something's going on than nothing at all.
Overall, nice shots, especially the first one!

I WISH I had shot the first one......I like it a lot but as you stated - lack of central subject makes it difficult ....its not coming across as a sea of horses because there is nothing to ground the photo..colors are distracting (even tho they're gorgeous), and with all those bodies its also distracting...I think taking color out and really finding a focus in the shot to anchor the sea would work for you...AND give you the effect of a sea of horses...
I took the liberty of downloading to play - this is what I see in your photo....feel free to take a look......please let me know, if its not ok wtih you to have someone else edit - I'll pull the post!
