Not the greatest of shots - the conditions were not good - lighting, wind, distance. But it was so exciting to see the snowy - this is my first time seeing one in the wild. For those in the Ottawa area, this is on Concession Road 19 near Casselman.

HI Marlene;

Congrats on your first Snowy...What a thrill eh?

I take by the bad lighting; this was taken Saturday...earlier in the day...

Were you in Tony's or Bruce's tour group....Did you see a bunch of characters standing in the field?

Thanks for the comments all - it certainly is a thrill to see these guys. I hope to go out again and try for some more sitings and maybe a better photo.

Ted - I actually took this around 2:00 this afternoon. There was no one else around surprisingly - my husband actually spotted it. It was a very cold afternoon in the fields around Cassleman - lots of wind.

Gorgeous Marlene! Thanks for the location too - it's just a few minutes from my house. I'm going out tomorrow!

Congrats on the find Marlene...always nice to see one in the wild..I can still rmember the first time I saw one..I was there with a few of the lads on Saturday and we saw 3 different ones including a mature all white male ( into the light no no shots of him)

Well done Marlene....I'm from the Ottawa Valley but haven't seen a snowy owl for many many years. I hope you get another opportunity to see this guy. They are beautiful birds.
