Last night I was reading the 20D manual, looking for the type of wired remote to use, and I read " You should always cover the eyepiece with the eyepiece cover when using a remote or self-timer." I had read this before and forgotten. I have never used the cover on any of my cameras. Does anyone else ever use it? Is stray light coming in thru the eyepiece really a problem or just Canon's CYA?
Let me know what you think.

I always used one on my Canon AE-1. As it was located in the hot-shoe it was easier to slip on .. the fact the later Canon ones are part of the strap (not even removable like the earlier ones) makes it harder to use .. plus you have to have the strap with you to use it .. not everyone uses the Canon strap.
It really depends now bright the light is around the camera at the time. Bright sun shining from behind would require the use of this device.

I use it for all the time for long exposure night shots, It was a pain with the D60 as it was part of the strap (ended up using duck tape in the end) the 1D has it built in, so a flick of the leaver and robert is your mothers brother.

Who's Robert informally, and what relation is your mother's brother to you?

"Bobs your uncle"
I've heard that phrase from Brits for years, and I still don't know what it means.
I thought I was Bob.
