Blowing snow hitting lens

I had my Powershot S5 IS with me yesterday at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers game. I took a bunch of shots but I was mostly overly concerned about getting any snow drops on my lens. By the end of the game it was coming down pretty good and I no longer was able to save my lens from the few snow drops that blew at it.

Is this harmful to the lens? Other than it throwing focus off when a drop is on the lens are there any long lasting effects snow drops may have?

I don't believe that a few drops of snow could be of any harm to your lens. But I would be careful form now on. Your camera is not waterproof you know.
