Being the only person to respond to the survey so far, I'm pleased to report that there are no problems with the 20D.

Second to respond
No problems whatsoever. So far I have only been on one actual photo oportunity but I have done several speed tests of my CF cards so I have now already shot close to 1000 photos with no lockups at all.

I swap lenses all the time.. it's worn the 70-300mm DO, 100-400mm IS, 50mm f/1.8, 200mm f/1.8, 28-70mm f/2.8, and 17-40mm f/4 thus far...
..and no lock up.

Hi all, I am new to the forum! The 20D is my first digital camera and I do tend to blame myself before the camera at this point. A couple days ago I had my 20D lockup after changing the lens. It had worked great up to that point. I thought it might be the lens I was mounting (it was brand new) and tried re-mounting it three times with no luck. Then I tried the lens that had been working fine but the camera was still locked up. So I removed the battery and re-inserted it - presto up and running again, even with the new lens. It hasn't locked up since - though I haven't had much time to play with the camera...

No problems here Drisley. I actually tried to reproduce a lockup, and it didn't happen.
One thing to note: The power button has three positions: Off, on and a 2nd on for the screen. The first time I used the 20D, I had it on the 2nd 'on' position, and when I turned it to off, it didn't power off, and I got scared! I actually had it turned to the '1st on', and not to off! Phew!!!

1500 pics and a dozen+ lens changes and many more CF card changes and no lock-ups.

Guess what?! I can now vote because....
MY 20D IS HERE!!! :D
Luckily I had a charged BP511 so I could try it right away!
I'm in LOVE! What a change from the Rebel. I fired off a shot, and before I could pull my face away from the viewfinder the image was already up on the LCD!!! And that was a Raw image on a 12x CF Card! I couldnt believe it.
So then I put it in Raw, burst mode and fired off shots. OMG! It just kept on going! And even after firing of 10 shots, I was able to instantly view the pics. I have yet to see the BUSY message that I saw all the time on the Rebel.
Now I need the grip as it seems so small compared to the Rebel and grip.
PS. When I took my first shot, I heard this loud CLUNK that scared the bejeezus out of me. When I looked up, it was the built-in flash because I was in Auto mode. Anyway, must go do my laundry now

Oh boy! Another lockup poll! Mine locked up once (only 72 shots so far) after changing from manual to auto focus on my 50mm f1.8 II.

I was just out and shot all afternoon.
I changed CF cards, changed lens, added 1.4x extender, and everything was flawless.
But, I probably just jinxed myself....
I say that whenever you get a lockup, PLEASE call Canon Service and tell them about it. That is probably the only way they will know about it. If they get a few thousand calls about it in a couple weeks, maybe that will get them to speed things up.

I have had one of my three lockup a few times and found that it is not a problem. So far I just pop the battery and off we go. Have heard of one guy that his shutter continued to function but the card had no images on it when he checked later, AARRRGh!!
I love these, even with a couple teething problems they are great.

Only one so far, but it unnerved me something terrible; I thought that my 70-200 2.8 was FUBAR!

I had just been reading this topic and decided to look at my 20D. I switched it on and nothing happened! I changed the lenses, nothing. I removed and inserted the CF card, nothing. Then I replaced the battery. That fixed it. However, I had taken fewer than 50 pictures on a fully charged 511A. I have read some speculations that there may be a power drain while the camera is off. I'll be watching.
