I just got the PowerShot SX100IS for christmas. The outside pictures come out gorgeous with wonderful color!

My problem is with indoor pictures. The camera takes a long time to warm up between shots, and my grandchildren can' t sit still long enough for the camera to warm up for another picture.

Why does it shoot so slow and how can I speed it up?
I keep the mode on auto, should I change it or something?

The flash is charging and slowing things down for you. If you have enough light you can turn off the flash to speed it up, but I'm guessing that this isn't going to work for you. It sounds like the flash is necessary to catch your fast grandchildren.

Compact caneras can take great pictures, but they do have limitations. I'm afraid action photos (especially in low light) is one em.
