Woolburr,
We don't have to print it too, do we? ???
You obviously have internet, I suggest you look around and get the info yourself. ;)

If we do one word each we'll be there by next week ;)
Seriously, why not give Canon themselves a call or a letter, rather than an e-mail which will just get passed around and lost.

3000 words is a lot of writing. I had to do 5k before. You need to break it down. 150 for the intro and 150 for the conclusion. Say 1000 for things to improve. Further break that down to lenses, PR, cameras, film, computers, printers. So much to write about. It should not be that difficult.

Red, are you asking us to help you write a paper for a class assignment? Well, I don't know if too many folks know much off the top of their about Canon as a company or what their marketting strategy is, but remember that Google is your friend. You're just going to have to do some good old fashioned research.
Don't overlook the library - remember, they were around long before the internet . Many times in the business section there will be books with corporate prospectus, background info.... all sorts of stuff. You will just have to do some old fashion digging for that 10 page document.
Then there is also the Canon online museum website of lenses and bodies. I can't remember the link, but if you do a search of the forum it should pop up. I think they may have a bit of company history there.
Check the periodical listings for Newsweek, Businessweek, Time.... there may be some articles on current product strategy and market return. Also check the sites of DPReview, CNet, etc. for recent articles. How is that for a start? Now start digging ;).
Now, what do I think of them in general? I've owned Canon's since 1971 and have always felt they are quite innovative in their R&D, producing fun to use gear for both the consumer and pro. So far my experiences with them have been good. Regarding improvement, they should never rest on their laurels and always keep an eye out for the other guy nipping at their heels. And finally customer service should never be forgotten. Many a company has fallen out of favor when they let their service slip in spite of a fine product.
But all of this is just my opinion - you'll have to take it with a grain of salt . - Stu

I totally overlooked what slim here suggested. This is an excellent approach for the actual structure. Do what he says ;).

You might want to take a look at this site

The articles there regarding the Canon 1D Mk III might be of interest for your essay. Basically, Canon released a new camera with a fairly fundamental fault in the autofocus mechanism. They then attempted to pretend it didn't exist, and then took a while to fix it. That little episode did quite a bit to dent the consumer's confidence in the company.

Glad we were able to help red ;).
Another suggestion, and I'm not trying to be critical - hopefully you will clean up your syntax, spelling and grammer when you type the final paper. I realize we all get a little sloppy in our posts sometimes - been there done that - but I'm assuming your finished work will be superior to what we see here.:D
