I did it. Finally took all your advice and made the plunge. I figure I'll have it for years to come and more than get my use out of it. I needed a longer reach then my current 55mm and this lens is of the highest quality. Fairly lightweight and small, too. Also got a Hoya UV(0) multicoated glass filter. Sample pics will come the end of next week, can't wait! :D

Glad you decided on that one, you won't be disappointed.

I have this lens and the f/2.8L IS version. As long as I know I'm not going to need the extra speed, I'll grab f/4 version first. It's smaller, lighter, and IMHO, is sharper. It's the best deal I know of in a pro-quality medium telephoto zoom.

I remember all of your posts concerning which tele to buy. I'm glad you went for the 70-200 f4. It's a great lens and you should be very happy with it. If you need a little more reach, go for the 1.4x converter.

Have fun.

I didn't buy the 1.4x converter now, because who knows I may not need it. But I always have the option to get it at a later date. :D

Great lens you will love it. It also is not too heavy. I sold off my 70-200 F 2.8L for the F4. It was too heavy to carry all day.
