How does one go about changing that line? The one that says Member, etc. by default. I see lots of little tag lines there and want to embarrass myself too.
Thanks!

What kind of numbers do you have to post to attract the title fairy?
shannyD
16th of January 2008 (Wed), 12:06
its not numbers.. its things that you come out with.
like i personally feel that cosworth has the best title.
people can go years, months, days, thousands of posts later and have no title.
so.. in all that being said.. just wait.. someday when you least expect it youll have one.

And titles can be somewhat over rated, which reminds me, it might be time for an avatar change.

I have only seen the title fairy twice. He/she is very elusive, and ill-tempered when trapped. I do know this: He/she is not a moderator, but stays in close touch with them. There is only one title fairy, although at least one other person has the title fairy's powers.
Beware the title fairy.

ie: it won't be remotely the same show, those three (and "The Stig" ) ARE Top Gear..
BBC America has been running it, it's so cool!
I avoided it for a long time, as frankly, I could care less about cars and car shows.
Again, it was this reference to the mysterious "Stig" that finally got me to check it out, and I was hooked instantly!
And to make it more amazing, when they drool over a Jaguar or Aston, I truly am interested.. they make the Cars at least 1000% more appealing.
I'm finding more and more BBC shows doing that to me. It started with the news of course, it's nice to see actual news.
The first show was we have a US version of the Gordon Ramsy Kitchen Nightmare's show,.\It was originally a BBC, and frankly I have secret crush on Gordon, (more of an Idolize/hero worship thing than romantic. so don't get any ideas! )so I checked out the BBC version..
It's MUCH better than the over the top US Fox version. I love Doctor Who of course, and am slowly building a tolerance for "Torchwood"
With my limited Cable, I am finding I;'m tuned to BBC America more often than not.

Hardly - the mod profile already has the bigger avatars - it would be simple to allow them to use custom titles on themselves.
The answer has been given - and the logic as to how it can only be that person has been given - and now 'they' are scattering BS to try and keep some mystique to it.

ie: it won't be remotely the same show, those three (and "The Stig" ) ARE Top Gear..
THAKS JAKE! I found it last night and have my DVR setup for series recording. Woooohoooooo! Go Top Gear!

Actually, the TF just took a direct quote from me. I was expressing jealously at a buddy's recent title and said something like, "oh well, at least I'm knocked up." I blink and the title was there along with the change in location proclaiming the approxomate expiration date of the title. So, no info there. TF could still be a woman.

Ouch. I was the one that used the term "knocked up"! The TF just copied. So, I guess I'm trashy.

The TF does does favors, though. I like that for certain holidays, we get a temporary title here and there. Now that Valentine's Day is coming, we may all get "lovable" titles for fun. Who knows? It's always fun to see the changes, though.

Most of the titles are quotes of things the member has said. At least that's my observation. Occasionally, the TF will come up with something different, but usually it's the members own words coming back to haunt them.

I think Moppie and Village_Idiot are two of the very few exceptions to this rule (excluding the photo award winners). Moppie admitted to being in a condition that someone else described as "Nissed as a Pewt" while posting; Village_Idiot, by relentless application of "Try the easy approach first" resolved a problem that had everyone else spinning in circles (through efforts to overcomplicate it). OP conferred the title on him; the TF merely made it official.

I'm not saying that. It's just that things have a way of getting back to the TF.
But, since you are clearly seeking a title, you will probably be overlooked. That seems to be the way the TF operates.

I just like this thread, shows me some of the inner workings of POTN. I have even frequented http://photography-on-the.net outside of the Forum to just check it out.
I was unaware of the existence of a TF until this thread came up. The only reason I keep pumping this particular thread is so it does not disappear into the abiss like many other fun threads.
But maybe to keep up the mistique of the TF for future generations of the unaware, I will let it go...
