The furry beast with the baseball...pure JRT? Mix? My Zelda is 1/2 JRT and 1/2 Wire Fox Terrier...but her coat is soft as can be, not wirey at all...and seems kinda sparse.

Yes, Heelers are Australian Cattle Dogs...with a substantial amount of Dingo heritage I believe. Here is a description of a Heeler:

"It is a medium-sized short-coated dog with a lot of energy, intelligence and an independent streak."

Now...imagine crossing that with a Jack Russell. Her mom is a JR and dad is a Blue Heeler. I've owned quite a few dogs of varying breeds and mixes...and this is by far the most intelligent dog, with the most personality that I have ever owned.

I just collected my new 5D2 and tested it with my 85L using my son and sasha. BTW you can obviously see that Sasha is adored by my son. In fact, she is throughly spoilt by all at home. :-)

This is my boy....we've been together since '95. He's slowing down now just like his dad. We're both graying and we've both had back surgery. People often draw comparisons between a dog and his owner. Those comparisons are often very accurate. I just wish I could sleep like he does.

Just thought I'd share the ONLY pic I have of my grandma's Dutch Purebread JRT named "Body" (pronounced "Bow-dee") taken with an old Canon PowerShot A530.

Thank you for your kind words. Usually the EF 24-70 is on the camera, so by default it gets the most. But there are a few with the EF 100 macro lens also. The 70-200 is still brand new, but there will be more to come with that.

Yup, they can be... just be prepared for it if you get a hyper dog. They need a lot of attention and exercise and are happiest when they have a job. My two have me home with them all day and are quite content. I don't think they'd do well if kept at home or in the yard all day without any social interaction. If you get a puppy you really don't know how it's personality will be. If you adopt an older dog from a rescue group, you can be somewhat certain of the type of personality it has. I think it's great you are researching the breed of dog you get before you get it. So many are dumped because the owner wasn't prepared for caring for them. But, if you are up to the challenge, they make the best buddies... they are such fun, and so very loyal, smart and affectionate. Both mine sleep with me every night, one... always under the covers. I can't imagine life without them.

Here's a couple pics of Opie & Sugar taken during our stay in a pine log cabin in the forest this week. Fortunately I'm finding more lodging options are becoming dog-friendly. I have never boarded my two "kids" and probably never will unless there is no other option available.

We have two of them, they go nuttts after the squirrels in the yard and if a mouse gets in the house they go into search and destroy mode. LOL They aren't near as bad as what most people say they are.

Sasha has a peculiar Cat like trait. She seeks out sun light to lie in. Here is one captured with my iPhone just today as she lay in the light under my study table. :-)

Just acquired a new Sigma 50mm f1.4. Sasha is my only willing model - for now. :-)

She likes to cross her front legs for some reason. Makes her look a lot more genteel. Its very her. This is her favourite spot in the kitchen where she gets her daily sun straight from the window.

this is cassy my 9 year old jack , she went blind when she was 2 and only 2 weeks ago had to have her eyes removed due to bad glucoma , but she is still the same old cassy , lively and a loving dog .

You can't help but love a Russell can you? Heres our little boy, Bruizer, we adopted him from a Rescue Kennel in April after my little baby died of a stroke in March. Bruizer is definately my wifes dog, he follows her everywhere. The first one is the day he came home with us, the second only a few days ago on his first visit to the beach. We took a ball for him but he much prefered to chase and return pebbles!
