Had a few minutes to spend on the way to an appointment and rolled through the refuge and got this bird having a snack. Lighting change was result of the bird going 180 degrees around me. Think maybe i should applied a seperate sharpening mask to the vole than I did to the egret, looks a bit odd doesn't it?

Yes, it was Sunday. Don't want to hijack your thread, but it's possible I shot the same egret! See here (http://www.capturedimaginings.com/photos/243196027-L.jpg).

I think it is the same bird, I had noticed this gal/guy has a bulge on the lower portion of the beak that is a bit atypical and it looks like you captured the same thing. This particular bird is not spooked by the car, in fact has been close enough previously to spray blood on my car when it makes a capture.
Outstanding Behavior shots Brad with your Usual Great IQ.
Thanks Gary, it is certainly appreciated.

Beautiful shots Brad, love the hanging vole. Looks like it's still alive and wondering what's next. Nice ballance on the whites too. I love seeing your stuff....steve

May I ask the glass used/distance on those beautiful shots?

May I ask the glass used/distance on those beautiful shots?
The lens was my trusty 100-400mm L and the distance varied from maybe 30' to less than 20', I had to pause my shooting to move the focus limiter off the 6.5 meter setting to the 1.5 meter.
And thanks everyone for the kind remarks, much appreciated!

Amazing sequence, the fact that you left out the gory details and retained intro and conclusion only also impresses me. That little touch of red on the last shot is quite sufficient and very evocative.
