Here's one from a football shoot this afternoon. Tilbury's Paul Cobb goes into orbit. Hope you like.

Good to see Cobby still playing - shot him on several occasions in the past.
Gmen - I too would be very interested to know what settings /equipment for this shot - but more intersted in your recent game at Thurrock - when I think it was raining  What body/lens settings did you use - as they all look nice and sharp despite the conditions.

The Cobb-meister still knows where the goal is Ian. Although in this game at Maldon, he walked off the pitch in a huff when Tilbury went three goals behind!
I'm using a 1D MkII with a 300mm f/2.8 - this shot with taken the 1.4x extender - 1/1000s, f/4 at 800 ASA.
My last visit to Thurrock was fortunately in bright sunlight! For most of the pics, I shot into the sun again with the extender - 1/1000s, f/4 at 320ASA, in-camera contrast at -1 - this is about two stops over the reading off of the grass.
It has rained ever since though - glad I picked up a rain-cover a couple of months back!
So how many of those goals against Dulwich did you get???? Good luck against Gravesend tomorrow. I'm off to Billericay vs Flackwell Heath. Hmmm....

Thanks - got my dates confused ;)
It was the Aveley / Barking game that was the wet one.
Enjoy the Billericay match - btw have we ever met?

The Aveley game was at 1/800s, f/2.8 at 1250ASA and yep it was soggy as anything. I used a couple of bursts of unsharp mark in PS for the web - amount 200%, radius 0.2 pixels, threshold 0 levels.
We must have been at the same game at some point!...but I don't think we've ever formally met. I don't get to Hornchurch very often as the Recorder tends to send one of the Sepples over - I generally cover the Thurrock clubs as well as the likes of Redbridge, Barking and Ilford.
I'm sure we'll bump into each other again somewhere sooner than later. Have a good game today!

Thanks Kdub - much appreciated.
retro - it would have been just peachy if the ball had been just right, with the logo nice and horizontal! I wonder if Nike would have used the pic in an ad? Hmmmm.... perhaps not!
