I just got my digital rebel last month, and I have noticed some wierd white balance problems. I am getting an all white image sometimes, is this a common occurance? It will do it once, ill retake the picture with the same setting, and it will be fine.

That's never happened to me before. That doesn't sound like a white balance problem, either. With white balance problems, I've noticed colors shifting towards red or blue, but never turning everything all white. If I were you, I'd try to find the easiest way to reproduce the problem and then take it back to the store for an exchange (hopefully you're within 30 days of purchase). Also, to make sure that it really is broken, I'd play around with the different modes shooting at a fairly "average" scene.
BTW, is the flash involved when this happens? This just doesn't sound right.
Good luck, and if it's broken, I hope you can get a new one!

thanks, it is only 2 weeks old, so I could take it back if needed. And by the way, this only happens in AutoFocus. When I do it manually, there are no problems. I found that if I push the shutter halfway down, it solves the problem. The white image problems while shooting in AF, and pushing the shutter right away without doing it half way first.

I new at this as well, 1 week with Rebel. But, pressing button half way down lets the camera do the "auto focus" It is rather quick at it as well. You are skipping the "auto focus", and telling camera "take pic RIGHT now" doing it the way u describe. Don't focus, SHOOT right away.
Someone has to focus, you or the camera, I'm guessing camera is faster than you are at it, but you aren't giving it a chance.
Press shutter half way, normally takes 1 second to focus (beep is "On" by default), when u hear it, shoot.
I found that if I push the shutter halfway down, it solves the problem.
Problem is solved, do that for all pictures. Nothing is wrong with your camera.

the cameras are quick but not that quick, let them hit the AF 1st then hit the button. glad you solved it.
