fisheye x1.6?

Hello, I haven't posted in quite awhile but have been playing with my toys :D I bought a fisheye lens ( 8mm sigma , and 15mm canon ). I really like the sharpness of the canon and it is more a wide angle lens than a fisheye in most cases. I'm guessing because of the sensor size and or the multiplication factor. Below is a link to a photo taken with the 8mm.

It is small enough to handle a dial up I believe.
Anyway, My question is.... Is the reason I am not getting a completly round fiisheye image caused by the 1.6 multiplication factor? Would I get a true 360 on a 1DS or with a film camera? I'm wondering about wheather it is what I want, I don't really like the crop and was hoping for round images.
Also does anyone know if there is a way to directly post an image from Pbase here?

Look which fraction of the image circle produced by the fisheye lenses is being captured by the (dark blue) sensor of your D60.

okay I see what appears to resemble my images ( Yellow 22mm inside of Drk Blue rrectangle) . excuse my ignorance but where do the 22mm and the 44mm corelate with my 8mm fisheye? I guess I haven't learned the difference between the Full frame 44mm and circular fisheye.

The circular FE creates an image circle of 22mm diameter (yellow) which produces a circular image on 24x36mm film (yellow circle is completely within the green rectangle). This circle covers 180° angle of view.
The full frame FE produces an image circle which is larger than the 24x36mm film (light blue circle touches the green rectangle). The angle of view is 180° diagonally.

I'm very interested in those lenses you just purchased, especially the 15mm Canon.

I was just looking at your album. Did you do something to 15mm7265.jpg, like Defish or Panotools Remap on it? It seems completely flat compared with the other two 15mm examples you posted. If so, what program or plug-in did you use?

But the image you are asking about (7265) is taken with the 15mm and the horizon or waterline is more or less centered in the lens. And I did not use any thing on that particular image. If you look at image 7247 where the waterline is lower in theimage where it curves. and 7247IA you will see the barrel distortion at the outer edges of the lens. 7247IA is "fixed" with "Image align". I am still learning how to compose with these lenses, which is the reason for the original questions in my first posts. I also find that 17mm on the 17-40 canon also distorts on the outer parts of the image on my D60. The churches and waterfronts are more or less straight out of the camera with only color correction and resizing in PS. My technolese is not very eloquent nor my spelling good but I hope I am explaining myself. :wink:

I see. I didn't even notice the waterline was centered on that one image. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots with that lens.

I'd like to get one soon because I'm not all that happy with the 18-55 kit lens, and need something a little wider. I'm still waiting to see how the new Canon 10-22mm EF-S ranks up against the Canon 15mm and the Sigma 12-14mm, if it ever comes out.

Too bad about the cropping on the circular 8mm Sigma. I love some of the shots I see with that lens done on the full frame cameras, but with that cropping factor it's not quite the same.
