super dark, not well focused. i would use a tripod and a longer exposure. edit in pshop

A couple of interesting subjects there. :-)

I can see that you were limited for light, so not your fault that your equipment wouldn't stretch to that limit.

You should be able to bring them out a bit with some post processing though.

I think you deserve kudos for the composition....the exposure is not a problem for me...it is the nature of these shots. I also like the way you recognize the textures in the man shot and not just "the man".
I would however PP them to punch them up a bit...a tad flat. Dup the background layer/color dodge in blend the dup and reduce opacity to your liking. You might also want to bring in the white point a bit.
To address the focus issue partially, you could (last step as you know) - sharpen it with method of your choice (me be high-pass fan)
