I would like to buy the 20D with the 17-85mm IS USM lens as a kit, since it saves $100. :D Ritz says they're not going to carry it. H doesn't list it, and an email inquiry has gone unanswered. :? Adorama has it listed, although it is not in stock. Ay reason to be wary of Adorara? :?:

:? :? My opinions on them are neutral. Thier website is not always updated...........If you want a recommendation, I suggest 17th street photo, they are much nicer and much smaller than Adorama, so you get more of a personal service.
........check them out www.17photo.com.

I have used them several times as well as B&H and have nothing but good results.
I contacted Canon and the problem with that kit is the lens has not come out of production, as well as the new wide angle.
They expect it to be available in the late fall.

They are a very poor company and very rude. This past summer I ordered an item that was instock, a phone call comfirmed it was. I paid for the fastest shipping. The item didn't even get mailed for about 9 days. During those nine days I would call and ask why it hasn't shipped, no one could give me an answer. Every single customer service rep, specially the one named Tobias were very unhelpful, rude, and barely could speak english.

I've ordered a few things from Adorama, though never anything expensive. I've always been satisfied with their service, though. I had to call them once to cancel an order and the guy I talked to was a bit curt in manner, but I just shrugged that off as a typical New York attitude. He did, after all, take care of my request quickly and without question.

Go for it Adorama is wonderful I have never had problems at all with them. They are just as good as B&H is but they are a bit smaller and some times you wait a bit longer with your orders. But a safe place to order from over all.

WOW, if I worked for Bhphoto that would be so very insulting..

Adorama is good, but go through Amazon's storefront when dealing with them. If you have any problems, bitch to Amazon and **** will get done, I'm sure. I recently had to bitch at Amazon about a different company and Amazon made things happen when I started complaining - it didn't even take a phone call, just email!

I was just checking my order history at Adorama the other evening and counting the order I made that night it was seven orders in just over a year. The first being well over $3000 for my 10D and accessories, this last order of $80 for a number of rolls of film and orders big and small inbetween .... I have never had a problem with their service, delivery or when I have called them as they have always been fine to deal with.
If I have a fault with Adorama it is perhaps there shipping. My order was shipped Thursday evening, according to UPS tracking, and showed it was due for delivery on Tuesday the 28th. I woke up Friday morning with my wife telling me a package had arrived from UPS  This has happened before (10D wasn't to be delivered until the following week and I got it late on a Thursday). This isn't the :? fault :? of Adorama but probably because I'm only about 150 miles from NY
While I have also placed a few smaller orders at B&H I feel both are very reputable (though not the lowest prices) and offer great service and delivery. I do trust them perhaps to a fault but then again, they have always come through.

I just checked my order history and I guess I did get one fairly expensive item from them. That's where I got my 70-200 f/4L. I thought I'd bought that somewhere else... :?

Adorama seems to often have problems with intra-dept communications, especially when it comes to verifying addresses and credit cards.
I had an order with them, waited 2 weeks, never heard a peep.
So finally I called, and the sales reps wouldnt tell me the problem, only that they would transfer me to the verification dept. I got an answering machine, left a message, they didnt call back. The next day I called, same thing... forwarded to the verification dept, got an answering machine. So, I just kept calling and insisting the sales people tell me what is up. It took 4 calls, and finally the sales rep named Fred told me that I needed to send CC verification. Well, I had already done that 1 week prior. Luckily Fred went above and beyond his job description to get things fixed. I had a similar experience once before, and I've read numerous posts of similar problems with verification.
However, if you do deal with Adorama, ask for Fred in sales. He keeps that place running smoothly If he ever left, I probably wouldnt deal with Adorama again.

I judge a store not buy how they handle the sale but by what they do when things go wrong.

I have had good luck with Adorama but I like B&H better. B&H is very professional and returns are easy. I buy most equipment from them.
Historically, when telephones used operators, the first ones were men. They quit using men because they were too rude. Being a man, that sounds sexist but if you talk to B&H men, they sound rather rude and probably should hire some women for the phones(assuming they know as much as the men...woops,hope that wasn't sexist).

I've had excellent results with BHphoto even with concerns over the phone, I've never found them to be rude.
I've also had luck with Abe's of Maine, but I only order standard kit type items from them. If you want a particular lens go with BHphoto.
Bhphoto doesn't give you that call back sell you some more crap thing either. At least I've never had it for any of the orders I've placed.

The only reason Adorama is down my list of places to order from is because they are slow to ship. With B&H if I order it, barring any holidays, it will go out either that day if I ordered early or the next day. With Adorama I think they sit on it for several days before they ship it. I've never had to talk to them by phone. I have B&H and I had no problems with the person I talked to. He answered my question and took care of the problem right away (they left out a light stand in one of the bundled mono-lights).
Sammy's is another store I will look at if B&H doesn't have something. Sammy's is a little higher usually than B&H but not always.

Without sounding anti-semetic, I find it hard to believe there is not a major online camera store not closed on Saturdays. Is it coincidence or are B&H, Adorama, Onecall, 47th Street, owned by the same consortium? I find these stores push for the hard sells and have shipped me items not asked for.
Over the years, I have discoved ordering through Dell to be an excellent alternative. Yes, they generally only stock a few SLR's, certain lenses & flashes, but they have been the easiest to deal with whether online or over the phone.
It would not suprise me though if someone said Adorama and a few of the others were owned by the same parent company like Wolf & Ritz are.

I talked to Meyer from Adorama just today regarding 20D availability and a purchase order I placed online. While he did attempt to push the usual filters and warranties, it was certainly not a "hard sell" and he was generally pleasant and respectful. No complaints here - as long as my shipment gets out in a timely manner.

I just recieved my order from them (Sandisk 1GB Ultra II, Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, filter and hood) - the transaction went exrta smoothly ! The order was placed on last Thursday and the package was delivered yesterday (Sunday) - that's SUPER FAST, considering where I live.
Oh, almost forgot - that was my first order with them, which means that they had to verify my credit card details before actual order processing. That only adds to their great service !

Good to hear Olegis.
Perhaps they had so many complaints this summer they finally fixed things. Or maybe most of the verification dept was on hollidays this summer!

Perhaps ... The friend of mine had recieved a package from them about a month ago - also without any single problem, and also very fast.

Last wednesday I ordered 4 things from adorama via the internet. My email confirmation said they would be delivered 9/28. Well, they all arrived on 9/27. No screw-ups!
