I've always been fond of the rythm in the buildings, and this is a good example of such a shot, Brian. I don't like too much the strong contrasts: I would try to open the shadows/blacks a bit more.

I do like the strong contrast here, along with the harsh light it enhances the industrial undertones. I would zoom out a bit though to prevent cropping the right side of the stairs. Thanks for sharing.

Good shot, like the graphic lines of the stair case in contrast to the lines of the brick work of the building.

I like the play on words in the title too.

Olli, I purposely boosted the contrast and darkened the shadows. I felt it added drama to an otherwise flat image.

Pio, thanks for the composition tip. I'll be passing by this again this weekend, perhaps I'll try to shoot it again.

Gary/Mike, the title is a play on words. I know it's a fire escape, but stairwell seemed to fit better with the multitude of parallel lines the word play just popped into my head.
