i think i would have made it a vertical pic. also a fill flash to see some of the detail of the bark, but this is all a matter of taste. i do like the subject and the pix !

I disagree, I think you've chosen the right format, and I enjoy the dark sillhouette, but for me, it's.....uuum...... not arresting, enjoyable enough, makes me feel like I'm there and all, but I'm not sure what it's a photo "of" as such. That's not to say that every photo has to be so clear, simply making me feel like I'm there is a valid reason for a photo's existence in my book.
