I work in the village and I usually get out for lunch to get exercise and take pics!!! I would love your opinion on these...

You have some nice captures there. I like the third and fourth ones in particular. Nice background blur helping emphasize the subjects.

The lighting was difficult for the first two, but I like the expression in the first one.

The last one is interesting, with its curious background detail. The only thing you could have improved on was to make sure that you captured the girl's feet. :-)

On the whole some nice photos.

thanks mike.. I realized that i omitted the feet the last time i looked at the photo.. i really tried to focus on peoples faces.. i have a tendency of focusing on everything but peoples faces.. this time i wanted to add some character to my pics.. i really enjoyed it and thanks for your comments.. btw.. the second pic was taken under some scaffolding and i wanted to freeze motion.... so i did what "i" could..

thanks again!!

Loving the last couple. How far were you from these people? What lens, may I ask?

Nice shots. I like the facial expression on the second one.

i was about a block away on each using my 70-200 f4.. it is amazing how far of a reach i got out of it and still used a decent shutter speed..

I love them all. Good work.
I like the expression of the punk lady. She looks like i feel most days ;-)
I usually take a normal or wide lens to photograph people. Together with the loud thonking noise of the 20D, my tactic is to be as normal as I can. Long lenses are usually associated with voyeurism.

Wow! I need some reach! People hate me coming up to them with my 17-55..

thanks to you all.. actually, this is my favorite out of the bunch... because only in new york can you get 4 different people like this standing at the corner like nothing is bothering them but what's going on in their own world..

do you ask people to take their picture prior to photographing them? I would assume that with a wide or normal lens you would have to be within 15-20 feet to take a shot that fills the frame.

you know i just noticed that the first pic has so much stuff in the background that it's almost dizzying.. oh well, he should have been standing on the street instead of on the truck huh?? lol.. just kidding and critiquing my own stuff.. not a great pic at all.. too bizzy for #1..

#1 is my least favorite, but I wouldn't call it a bad photo. His facial expression screams New York to me.
