430EX flash head wiggle

Hi,

I've searched the threads to see if anything about this is documented and couldn't find anything. I just got a brand new 430EX. The flash head (basically the whole part that swivels) has a side-to-side "wiggle". It's not a lot (probably half a millimeter of give) and I probably wouldn't have thought anything about it but I've got an old 420EX and it doesn't shake like that at all. The best I can describe it is to say that the 430EX flash head somehow seems a little "loose" as compared to the 420EX being "tight". With a few test shots and swiveling the head around I don't hear/feel anything loose and everything seems to work as advertised. Should I be concerned? Anyone have a 430 and 420 who have the same experience?

I just went and checked mine.

It has the same amount of 'wobble' as yours.

I have never really noticed it and the unit is a couple of years old - I guess it could have been there from the start... I dunno. Still works well enough for me to have never noticed it - and, as my only flash, I had nothing to compare it to.

its normal, the 580ex i have is built much better.

but it really isnt a big deal :)

Mine was wobble free untill I pointed the flash forward instead of up after taking it out of the box.
