I just got my first mac and for some reason it will not allow me to click and drag files and folders. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it?

In my experience, it depends on the files and folders you are trying to drag. And I have yet to find a rhyme or reason (I'm a PC/network tech on a MacBook. Life gets confusing.) If you are trying to move files or folders to a different folder, I have found the easiest way is to open 2 Finder windows-one of the files you want to move, one of the folder you want to move them to-then highlight all the files you want to move, drag them to the other window, and let go when you see the green + sign. Sometimes I have to click in the destination window once I get the + sign.

Hope that helps, it's (mostly) worked for me.

On a mac you can click and drag anywhere. Are you talking about in a Finder window? What view are you in? List view or Thumbnail view?

I've never had an issue with moving things around... I do it all the time.

Yeah, I'm constantly dragging stuff around. There's certain places you can't drag things, though.

That's not normal at all. I have some spontaneous ideas running in my head, so excuse the simplicity of a couple questions.

1) Do you have a lot of icons on your desk?
2) Can you open your files on your desktop, and do they open fast?
3) Are you using the mouse that came with your Mac? or one you've previously used with a PC?
