I just switched from photoshop 2.0 to CS3, i could do pretty much what i had in mind on 2.0. Now that im trying to figure out CS3 for lack of better words , its pissin me off, for the last 2 days ive been trying to do certain things and cant figure out crap, i downloaded a photoframe plugin and have no idea how to pull them up for use, does it take a long while to figure this CS3 out, cause im bout to give it up already, thoughts on your CS3 experiences. People have told me to stick with it because its way way better, but im getting agravated i must say. Even the masking is so diferent, simpler in some aspects but not in some. Oh well just curious....DOC. Also on the photframe thing there is a EXTENSIONS at to top when you put the mouse on it a dropdown says PHOTOFRAMES 2.5 then i click it and nothing happens... GO FIGURE

Sorry you are frustrated. The learning curve is always something that takes a little time and patience... so breathe slowly and deeply and just give yourself a month or so to get familiar with the new tools, and the way it works. In the long run you will be much better off.. so many more things you can do in CS3 that will make your processing easier. :) Hang in there...

And I second Shanny's advice on the book. I have a CS2 book by Scott Kelby and it is written very simply and nicely with wonderful step by step illustrations. A great place to start learning the basics... :)

Happy Day!

Stick with it, it'll be worth it - interface changes always yield a bit of a steep learning curve. CS3 is freakin' awesome, really good upgrade.

I just switched from photoshop 2.0 to CS3

I assume you mean Elements 2.0?

Because if you actually mean Photoshop 2.0, I'm not surprised you're confused! That would be like trading up from a pack donkey to a space shuttle!

LOL that's a good point! I remember the original version of Photoshop, I still own a copy on my Mac actually, and it runs in Classic...the logo was one of those old photo developing kiosks...heh.

You sparked an interest in me to find out about PS 2.0. Found this great site with screenshots of PS through the ages.

Sorry i forgot to mention that, yes it was elements 2.0 . Now im no pro by any means with 2.0 but i could take a photo with an idea and make it happen, i never really used layers on it though as in putting layers in stacks and such, still quite new to it, have been using elemnets for about 10 months now, but its getting frustrated using CS3 not knowing much of anything when its so tempting to just close it and go back to what i know...DOC

Ah crap that's right, 2.0 was the eye. The photo kiosk icon is from 0.63 beta! That's what I have, lol.

Nice shot of you daughter.

Elements and Photoshop are different beasts. Elements 2 is like 4 years old (or even old?) - Photoshop has changed a lot over the years. Get the Scott Kelby book on CS3 (I have the CS2 book as I use CS2) - his books are most excellent imho and well worth the read.

If you just upgraded, did you already have photoframe 2.5? Reason i ask is 2.5 is very cumbersome specially for loading frames. If you just "bought" it, you shoul dhave got 3.0 which is much much easier to load frames and styles.

As far as cs3 goes as suggested already get the Scott Kelby CS3 for photographers, it will put you in the game.

Here's a brief article I wrote on the changes in CS3 (http://www.photozo.com/newsletter/index.php?action=archive&mode=view&eid=&ei=&nl=&mi=110), and here are my favorite books on the subject (http://brucephilpott.com/photos/books.htm).
