Hi, new to the forum, just wondering if anybody could lend me some advice - I have a Canon S30 - great camera and all, never had any problems...
However, the jog dial - mode selector (allows u to change from auto, manual, av, tv, portrait, night/sports mode etc) is starting to play up - if I select Auto mode, it will remain in the mode directly opposite it - which is Photostitching.
Applying pressure to the selector (i.e pushing down with another finger) makes it go back into Auto mode, but if u take your finger off, it will change back. All the other modes are fine, and dont exhibit the problem. You can sorta hit the selector a bit and it will change to auto for sometime, but eventually switch back. Nothing else is wrong with the camera - takes photos fine otherwise (even in Auto) battery, reading images is fine etc.
I suspect the selector's components have been damaged inside somewhat due to a some careless handling on my part...my question is - is this fixable, or is it worth fixing?
I know a Canon service would charge me an arm and a leg - would a regular camera servicer be any cheaper?
