It fell out of the pocket of my pants when she pulled them out of the washing machine.
I dried it off, stuck it in one of my computers and it worked fine. Re-formatted it and put it in my 30D and it worked fine too.
They must be pretty durable machines.
Just wanted to let everyone know, they take a beating and keep on ticking.
I was relieved that it didn't ruin it.

No biggie. They aren't powered unless they are plugged in. I've washed mine a couple times. It's been through the dryer just as many times. That's got to be as good a way as any to dry it out.
Actually, after the first time I washed mine, I plugged it in and to my amazement it still worked. The next day I was telling a coworker the story and the drive slipped out of my hand and went straight into my cup of water on my desk. :o I just threw it in a desk drawer to dry out for a couple days.

Considering that's a mini hard drive, that it survived's really pretty amazing. I still wouldn't count on it for critical shots any more though. The motor, etc. may suffer long-term damage from the immersion.

Could have been worse for sure. Your wife could have used a wringer washer and squeezed the bits out of it.

I have heard this same story about CF cards, with the same end. Amazing what we can build these days. :)
