I ordered 2 Sandisk Ultra II 2GB CF cards online from Dell last week for $167 each, a very good price. The order page showed it would ship by 9/29. I called Dell to find out why it would take so long to ship and was informed that it was backordered a minimum of 45 days. I asked why they didn't tell me that when I oredered them. They responded that they don't notify people until two weeks go by and they can't ship it. That bites. I cancelled the order after being hung up on by a rep after I asked to cancel the order. I then placed an order for two at B&H for for $189 each. When I told the B&H rep what happened at Dell he responded, " Sure, we can sell it for $0 if we don't have it." How true.

Scott

Thanks for the tip.
I am ordering a 1gb Sandisk UltraII.
It's funny how this "60x" card is actually faster than the Lexar 80x card in 20d.

Do You have some accurate tests or know where to find some, because the simple tests I did does not give that result. I found the speed to be similar so my next cards will be SanDisk. I simply should not have bought the Lexar :(

Not sure if you saw my post a while back, but Sandisk is supposed to announce another price drop on 10/01. Might want to wait until then. They announced the drop on their USB drives today.

Hmmm well it takes a loooong while before those reductions will get to Denmark. The price mentioned is about 40% lower than what I have to pay for it in Denmark :(

That's one helluva card ! I just got mine yesterday (along with the Canon 100mm macro, but that's another story) - pretty fast on my 10D, a lot faster than my old x30 Transcend 256MB.

TommyK, I agree that the difference in performance will be very small indeed. However, you would expect the 80x to be faster.

IR shows the Sandisk to be slightly faster in all tests. They use the Extreme, but that is the same as the UltraII in terms of speed. The only difference is that the Extreme is made for exteme temperatures.

Also, the Rob Galbraith CF tests show the Sandisk to be slightly faster on the MKII tests.
Although, the MKII's CF card performance is quite a bit slower than the 20D's.

I ordered a Sandisk Ultra II from Buy.com 15 days ago. Their site at the time said that it would ship in 2-3 days. Yesterday, after two weeks of waiting, I went to their site and checked on my order. The card was listed as being on order from the manufacturer. I cancelled the order and had one sent by B&H, who wanted $3 more for the card, but who had them in stock and ready to ship.

And if they told me it would be 5 months wait when I bought it, then fine. Dell's policy as explained to me by their rep is not to notify a customer that something is on backorder until 2 weeks past the expected delivery date has past. There is no good excuse for that other then to try to prevent me from buying it somewhere else. As an owner of two Dell Dimension desktops, that just pisses me off.

I don't know about the "Dell" aspect, but I can say that the Ultra II 2 GB is a nice card in the 20D; I received mine a few days ago (not from Dell) and gave it a good beating (so to speak) over the weekend. Nice and fast! :D

Yes... but Denmark is not far from Germany. You sure find someone to send it to.
I live in Luxembourg and buy also electronics from Amazon... When I do it, I pay with my luxembourgish Creditcard, and destiantion address is in Germany... never had a problem...
You could have sent it to someone in Germany, and this person could send it to you, 5Euro max for stamp and packaging, no customs <- Europe...

Just a follow up. I ordered two 2GB cards from B&H yesterday after I cancelled my Dell order. UPS tracking shows them for delivery today. No special shipping. Sometimes it doesn't pay to try to save $20.
