Hello to everyone out there. Right now I shoot with a S2 but I am ready to pick
up a XTi. I have a question about my pictures. I am fairly new to digital but have used a film SLR for years. At first when I made the change I found myself still really working on composition in my pictures and missing quite a few shots because of the time taken. What I have been doing lately is kind of just getting the shot and then going in and cropping out what I don't want. Is this fairly common for you guys who shoot lots of pics? I don't really have any special software yet except what came with the camera (ZoomBrowser) Thanks for your time and this site has truly blessed me, I feel like when I get my Digital SLR, I will be ready to make some great shots! Thanks again!

I have found that it great to have my own darkroom. (computer)
I still think of myself as a Photographer, rather than a Digital Artist. I have an HP computer and use HP Image Zone Plus which came with it. I understand you can down load quite a few processing programs from the net. If you take care in the camera exposure wise and don't expect to do wonders with your pictures in the computer a basic program is fine. Members who have Photo Shop quite often say they do not fully understand how to use it.
You will find that you will take a lot more shots now you have gone digital as you are not counting how many have I left on this roll.
Good Luck. Enjoy your new camera..........:)

i would still say that composition is important but i wouldnt completely stress over it to the point of missing shots. If you see some good action but cant get it framed perfectly in time snap the shot and crop if needed.

I shoot mostly soccer and my timing and composition has improved drastically over a period of just a few months. at first i was cropping like mad.

Anymore i try to get the best composition possible to capture the action because cropping takes away the ability to do larger than 8x10 even 5x7 prints depending on the crop size. (especially for those of us not using a 21.1 mp sensor) at first id say snap away, the composition and timing comes with time (no pun intended)
