My GF bought me a sigma 530dg! There was a plasic pull out thing to go infront of the flash to make it go down to 17mm wide angle, however this plastic pull out has gone missing?? I dont know where its gone, and i have hunted high and low for it!

The flash is stuck on 17mm all the time now, any idea where i can get a replacement one? I dont even know what they are called!

HELP any one please!

According to the manual that came with my 500 DG Super (I bet one came with your 530) it's called a "Built in Wide Panel". You could take it back where she got it and tell them it was not there and you want a replacement flash. Or call here, Customer Service Department call toll free (800) 896-6858.

Or, if you fancy saving a bit on the dog 'n' bone damage:

Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd.

13 Little Mundells,
Welwyn Garden City,
Hertfordshire
AL7 1EW

Tel: 01707 329999
Fax: 01707 327822

Good luck! :)

I think it said in my manual that if the plastic fell off, it would be stuck in 17mm forever.

However, it seems a bit odd that it'd just "go missing".

Contact sigma or the place you got it and say it was missing from the start...

Post a picture of the front of the flash head.

Hi guys thanks for the advice, i have thought about taking it back to the place however, the guy showed me the flash before i bought it and he actualy demoed that bit to me, so i know it was on there when i had it.

Yes it is constantly stuck on 17mm, which is a real pain. Im not really one to use a flash, my gf just wanted to buy me a christmas present, so i thought yeah no probelm, go for this, but im kind of gutted.

Thanks for the phone numbers too, im going to give them a call, and i think ill call down to the camera shop tomorrow and explain what happened. They are good guys so maybe they will show a bit of grace, or maybe im just hoping for too much!

Dylan, try this. Get a small piece of plexiglass that is the same size as the original wide panal (my flash head piece is 2 1/8wide x 1 1/2deep x 1/16thick.) and slide it in. Unless you are going to do a good bit of wide angle shooting, you can just leave it there. Otherwise, put a small piece of tape on it so you can remove it when necessary.

I love a man with a good sense of right and wrong....;)

But I too hope you were mistaken in your analysis....

BTW - where is the OP? Swansea?

Google says never mind - you're right on the Cork/Swansea line.....

Yeah im in swansea. Today my Flash came back! Big Huge shout out to Camera centre swansea, for sending it off, and same to sigma, best of all they did it under warranty! For the life in me, and the guy in the shop, we cant work out how it came out!

The camera shop phoned me today, and i was expecting them to say sigma have quoted over the price of the flash please buy a new one! Was soo happy when they said it was back, and no charge. Excellent shop!
