1/2000sec
F/8

It was take in single shot mode too so i was VERY lucky i got it.

What do you think?

awesome focus and background. just wish the rider maybe had a remote flash on him to lighten him up.

Great timing. You were in the right place at the right time with the right camera settings.

Just a comment. It would be nice if there was a ground reference so you could see how much "air" this guy achieved.

Keep 'em coming. Good one.

The lack of ground make it look even higher=better IMO

Shockingly,. I agree with Timmy :)

The frame of reference is often in place in shots like this and in fact unavoidable.. as a background may be inpossible to keep out of the frame.. bleachers, trees, part of the course,.. what have you...

In this case it is the very lack of all the reference points that gives us the total sense of flight.

Suggestions:
1. Crop... crop off some of the sides.. maybe ONLY the left side.. so that the biker lloks to be flying into the frame.. rather than dead center. I;d experiment with this.. as a lot of sky showing is definately a part of this image.. on the other hand a tighter crop into portrait aspect may be interesting too.. albeit very different.

2. If you have photoshop PSCS.. try creating a second layer and running the shadow highlight recovery tools to get the subject brighter.. and maybe even while using layers you could deepen the blue of the sky to help add puch to the biker.

Awesome shot! Really amazing scene you captured.

Awesome capture!
If you have Photoshop CS, you can use the shadow/highlight tool (my new fav) to bring out detail of the rider and bike. Let me know if you want info on what to do.

If you dont mind, this is what I came up with in a few seconds.

Excellent shot - I'd crop it a bit more and follow drisley's Photoshop advice to bring out the detail in the rider.

if you wanted to go a different route, you could adjust the levels and curves so that the subject formed a black silhouette against the sky.

Hi Everyone

This is my first visit and first post :D

Drisley...I have just yesterday purchased a Canon 300D for this sort of photography (motocross).

Could I ask how to clean the image like you did above.

I have PScs.

Thanks in advance.

Not really into all the post-processing element of digital photgraphy, but clearly i can see the benefits - ESPECIALLY since i wanna blow this shot up to A3 or beyond and stick it on my wall!

Drisley - can u inform me the steps to carry out the lighting you did?

Regards,
Keir.

Hi keirsinclair

I have found that filter in PScs

It was very simple to use.

In PScs goto image-adjustments-shadow/highlight

Play with the top slider of each heading.

All the dull images I had on file which I thought I could not use are now useable!

I wouldnt recommend blowing the image up to A3 but hopfully your raw image was saved and if its large enough (which it should be) . Make your adjustments to that image. It should then fit nicely to your A3 page.

Its now my Fav filter, absolutley AWESOME!!

Thanks
