Can I use the BP-511a in a 10D without frying anything? I noticed the specs were slightly different from the plain old 511.

Thanks!

BP-511 and BP-511A are interchangeable. The only difference is that the old one is rated at about 1100 MaH, and the newer one is about 1350 or so. There are other brands that are 1500 or better.

The newer ones just have a slightly larger capacity, so you might get 10-30% more shots per charge cycle.

Right. They're compatible.
The rating "1100 mAh" actually gives you the battery's capacity in "milli Ampére hours". BP-511A has a capacity of 1390 mAh which is 26% more "juice" than BP-511.

Thanks for the info. I took physics in high school--almost 30 years ago--but didn't remember what mAh was...
