I have seen several photographer put black borders around their photos and possibly a logo or description on the bottom border. Is this done in Photoshop or can it be done in Lightroom? Could someone help me understand how to do this? I think it looks great and adds to the photo. Thanks in advance.

Try the action offered from this site. The attached link is for a tutorial for a gallery frame that can be customized to your own liking. Great site for free actions and scripts also. I use this action quite a bit. The action is within this link at the very bottom.

In Photoshop (& Elements?) You can use the 'stroke' command (select all, Edit - Stroke) or use the 'Canvas Size' option.

From the Adobe website: "To load an action, open the Actions palette menu, choose Load Actions, navigate to where you saved the action, (this will be a drop down menu where you should locate where you have the file saved) select the .atn file, and click Load to load it. You can then play the action by opening the actions set, selecting the action to play, and clicking the Play Selection button."
Not hard to do .... just follow the instructions as sparse as they seem. Adobe must be open to do this....hope you can follow this :)
Newer info for you to look at ( snowing hard here and I've got too much free time.. ) http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm#Frames
and here: http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/tools/ActionBasics.pdf Once you have mastered the actions thing, have a look here at atncentral for more frames for your pics. Jodi's frame is quite nice. Good luck ....
