What an unusual looking fly, good find Brian, excellent shots as usual. He can borrow my comb as well, since I never use it (big bald spot, usually have a #1 haircut anyways).

What an unusual fly Brian. It certainly seems to be preening itself in the first pic and saying "I am such a beautiful fellow" LOL!! Great capture!! :)

I can't claim I saw the reflections when taking the pics- the viewfinder was too dark to see much of anything.
These flies are also called drain flies and can often be found wandering around the brickwork near any external house drains. I'm finding them around my compost bins at the moment.
