I know its probably old news for you guys who live across the pond. But for us chaps in the UK the EOS 1D Mk II is as rare as rocking horse S**T, and for us guys in sunny Cornwall even more so. All I’ve been able to do since ordering mine three months ago is read reviews and topics on this forum with envy.
Well no more, because last Saturday mine has finally ARRIVED. :D
Every day since it has rained :( – so I haven’t been able to go out with it, but I have read the instruction manual from cover to cover, and played with all the switches and knobs. Hopefully the middle of this week the weather should improve and I should be able to go out and play with my latest piece of kit. :)

Shouldn't be much of an excuse ... put on one of your L lenses and a filter, and your camera is weather-proof and ready to go out and take some pictures
I'm happy with you!
Best regards,

Congrats!
I know the feeling all too well... Although I was immediately able to put my MkII to good use.. a year earlier I recall the arrival of the 10D,.. my first DSLR happend to coincice with our rainiest spring in recent history. (as well as a busy work schedule)
It is very frustrating indeed!

Hi Top-Cat,
congrats on your new toy. Yep there is nothing so annoying as cornish missle, a cross between mist and drizzle, small drops that get everywhere, light enough to blow on the wind. The worst place to change a lens, at least with rain you can shelter the camera. Dont worry TC, there is bound to be some nice weather soon, fingers crossed for you.

Got mine last week...like WOW. Put it on 8fps and watch a 512mb card fill up in seconds. Taking a bit of getting used to after a 10D but the results are amazing and the focus is so fast and accurate. I'm finding it underexposes by about 1/2 stop but maybe that is me doing something wrong. Looking forward to this weekend to give a bit of a test out.

i got mine a few days ago as well. i've already done the battery charge/refresh cycle x3 and i'm ready to see how many shots i can get. i love the 1.3 crop factor - the 85 1.8 is *amazing* now on this body compared to the 10d. and the sigma fisheye - WHOA!
i love the selectable fps - it's great to have 8.5 for sport and quickly go to 3 for everyday stuff, but also be able to use , say 5 - and not worry about filling the card in 10 seconds. it's too bad rugby season is over - oh well time to get out to the track and start some motorsport :)
