Hello...I'm new to the forum, I've been try to register for weeks but was never getting the link to my email. But finally it came today (strange, but I'm happy now).

Anyways, I've read people talk about the Canon 28-135 IS and the Tamron 28-75 2.8. I've been looking at lenses for months and I've narrowed it down to these two. I need a lense to stay on my camera most of the time (for walking around, typical family shots, etc.). I'm getting this lens to get me by until I can afford the 24-70 L. I already have the 70-200 L f4 so I need somthing inbetween. What's everyone's opinions? What have you, or would you choose?

I have the 70-200 4.0L and the Tamron 28-75 2.8 and am very happy with it. It is a great lens for the price and if you search through this forum you will find many, many recommendations for it.

Here are a couple of pictures I took with the Tamron at 2.8:

You will not go wrong with the Tamron for the money.

Welcome,

I have the Canon 28-135 IS lens, and I am am very happy with it. Have used it on both my film and 10D bodies, it is quick and quite, no pics to post at the moment, but i'm am very pleased with the results, it is the main lens that I use on on the 10D

Most people that have used both the Tamron 28-75F2.8 and the Canon 28-135IS lens will say that the Tamron is much better in terms of optical quality.

...love my Tamron 28-75. I've been very impressed with it. I use it with my 70-200 and my 50 1.8 and between the 3 I have been able to cover everything that I typically shoot. The 28-75 stays on my camera most of the time; walk around, general shooting, etc.

I have both. I never, ever use the Canon. It simply can't compete with the Tamron in terms of image quality.

I just bought one and so far it's awsome, it works like a 1.3 macro for great flower shots. I think after you use it you will love it.

This is a tack sharp lens. Here's an example

I am considering Tamron 27-75 2.8 too..
Has anyone used it with full frame camera? I think most of the reviews and impressions here are based on 1.6 crop or 1.3 crop so curious about what it is like outside of the crop. (since I wanna use it on my 7NE aswell)

Its designed for Digital Cameras so there might be a problem but I would check with Tamron.

The Tamron Di range will work just fine on cameras with a full size sensor OR 35mm film. They are not to be confused with Tamrons Di-II range which only work with APS-C sized sensors...
