Get your wife to assist, do hair, style etc.
Teamwork!
Its not a good idea to shoot the opposite sex alone, imho, and its best to have another gal with you, as, if the going gets ugly, its your word against the lawsuit etc.

I'm married and my wife is very self conscious and was a bit worried at first when it came to me photographing other females that were of our age and attractive. She only gets mad if I use it as a default pic on myspace, lol. Understandable so I just respect that and post a bulletin linking people to my most recent work. She's awesome though, and doesnt get upset at all anymore. She knows what I do is for the general good, and that nothing will ever come of any shoot that I do. I am very faithful.
Sit down with her and talk with her. Find out what will upset her and just work through it. She'll more than likely agree on something with you.

I have been approached to photograph a couple of pregnant women and they wanted some risque' shots. I talked to my wife, she didn't like the idea and I said, "Ok". Simple as that. I am not about to give my wife any reason to doubt what is going on. If she's uncomfortable with me doing it, then I am too. After all, she is my wife. Maybe someday she'll let me shoot some female models. I didn't have to buy a crystal jar for my, uh, well.....you know. My wife let me keep those.

i've been married nearly 5 years. My wife is a photographer too so she's fine with naked ladies being around.

I don't see what the big fuss is. There's got to be something wrong if a partner is umcomfortable with the other taking photos of the opposite sex.
It's just photos....art and nothing else (one would hope).
My husband would have no problem with me taking photos of either sex. And if he was in to photography I wouldn't care if he took photos of women.

its all a case of making sure the wifes imagination doesn't run ahead of the reality. Saying that - I haven't done any pics like this yet!

It's like anything else - a few sleeze bags contribute to all male photographers looking like pervs. So how can you blame them? How would you like it if your wife brought some buff guy home to photograph in the nude? Wouldn't that make you uncomfortable? Kudos to those women who'd be okay with it. I know it would really bug me if I had some office job and my husband was in the studio photographing some naked broad, lol.

"Naked Broad?"
Did this thread morph into a Elmore Leonard novel or something?
Wait, let me get my Speed Graphic. Anyone got a spare flash bulb?

I say the easiest thing is to offer to have the wife/partner there to proove innocence and even as a good make up artist, and vision - a woman knows what's more comfortable to pose etc.
Hasn't worked for me yet though :p

Start shooting models very early in you marriage, and it becomes a matter of course and she'll raise no objections. That's how I did it. :)
Really, it's all about jealousy and if you're in a good relationship and have communicated the desire and the reason why you want to shoot models, then you ought to be able to have a rational discussion, come to a reasonable set of parameters which allow your spouse to feel comfortable, and which allow you do shoot photos of other models. Jealousy is usually about insecurity and a lack of trust. Work on those first.

my ex fiancé was rather supportive, but we both grew up in arts and just have that understanding of it. Plus as long as your not "hiding" anything u should be fine lol ... to me its art and business nothing more, nor should it be to anyone.

Dosen't this put you back to square 1 and you will have to repeat the process over again?

No, because the model you marry already understands.
Besides, I'd never marry someone so jealous  It should be obvious that you're just working, and they should understand who it is you come home to every night. If that simple concept can't be grasped, there are obviously many more underlying problems.

See my sig. I have it posted on our refrigerator. My wife is not insecure about our relationship and neither am I. We have total trust and respect for each other. She does interior design and makeovers for bachelors and it doesn't bother me a bit. She has an eye for beauty and often helps me with our photo shoots. Life is good.

I'd think this could actually make any photographer uncomfortable. I remember having to draw nudes in my art class and it was really bizarre. Everyone kept sort of blurring out the privates, lol. ;)

thats funny... in europe they are fine with nudity, and comfortable with it. its natural
here they tell us its perverted, and it shouldnt be seen. go figure.

I think once people become "fine" with it, it loses the whole taboo thing, so we keep holding on to that naughtiness on purpose.

Exactly - to a certain extent, if it ain't taboo, it ain't fun. I remember a few things from my youth that were "taboo" and illegal - but they sure were fun, if for no other reason that the enjoyment of "getting away" with something.

My wife models for me and so does her friends. But as long as she is allowed to see the pics if she wants its ok. No nudes at this time. If I want to do that I have to turn a profit on photography first. LOL.

from a wife's perspective--if you have to ask if it's okay--it's probably not. In other words, if YOU know you're doing it professionally, then it's not a problem. If YOU'RE not convinced, I won't be either.
