I been playing with this lens half to say so far its a real pice of... well u can finish it I haven’t been able to get a decent pic out of as of yet changing iso to get faster shutter speeds and everything, im gonan keep playing with it but so far im disappointed in this lens and believe I wasted my money.. It’s my own fault I didn’t research it, guess I learn my lesson... ive tried it on a tripod with a remote still could not get a sharp picture.....

Stop it down. Alot, and you might get a decent pic. I've gotten a few decent ones out of mine, but its tough, i will give you that. Most non-L's can be made sharper by stopping down. try around a f/8, that oughta get you better shots.

Should be about the best your gonna get around 16-22...like i said, its not the best lense, but you can get some decent results, its just kind of tricky.

I've used this lens on film cameras without too many issues .. it works better at f8 than wide open .. that's for sure.
What issues are you refering to .. are the picture soft .. is it camera shake ??

you must have gotten a bad copy....

check out the wildlife gallery on my website... most of those shots are taken at 300mm wide open (f/5.6)

also my sports gallery... mostly taken with this lens:

A lot of people put this lens in a bad light...I will continue to praise it considering the amount of money it costs.

I had that lens too and quickly swapped it for the Sigma 100-300 EX f4 which is a beauty.

Then every now and then along comes someone with pictures like these ...

I have a theory. Every now and then Canon takes one off the production line and lavishes real care and better glass on it.

Then pictures like these appear and we all think - maybe I did something wrong ..

What reckonest thou?
