The guy at my local shop told me the same thing yesterday. Not sure beyond that.
-In my opinion I'm not sure I'd want these 2 new lenses anyway. The wide angle might be nice, but I'm a little skeptical of the quality.

That is correct. At this time, the EF-S lenses will only mount on Digital Rebels and 20D's.
Physical modifications (hack saw?) have been performed on some EF-S 18-55 kit lenses that allow them to be used on 10D's, but it's understandbly not a highly recommended procedure.

Especially on an expensive lens. I could almost justify hacking up a $100 lens, but not something that costs several hundred dollars.
As for the 10D, never fear, the 17-40 is here. And, Tamron has a new superwide coming out as well. Plus, there's always the Sigma 12-24 which will also work on full-frame cameras.

Not everyone on the planet is going to know this. It will come up again. Trust me.

Very nice work on this one as opposed to the earlier version that rightly carried the designation 'hack

Very nice one! It's not another chainsaw-approach!
I'm tempted do do something with my kit lens. I don't use it for taking pics anymore...
... hmmm... I could modify it and sell it together with my old D30!

Anyone have the Oct issue of popular photography. Go to the just out page 19 and read it. It specs the 20D and mentions the new efs lenses and states that they fit the 1D mkII. I didnt think this was the case. has any one tryed mounting an efs lense to there 1D mkII.

Even the new Sigma 18-50 EX f/2.8 seems quite promising.
