I'll probably purchase some carbon offset credits;).

Actually, I'd like to buy my wife something for her birthday, the big 40 is coming up in May.

If it happens, I'll bank it so I can just give it back later.

We can't talk politics, but we can discuss economics,

The current situation is greatly influenced by our national debt,.
this tax rebate/ spending incentive is clearly going to increase the deficit..

It's really basic stuff, and yet here we go.

I don't believe until I see it, but it said 1600 if married, that means 1600 to my wife. So I guess "I" won't be doing much with it ;)

Well since the US debt grows at $1.43 billion per day, this would seem pretty useless. Add $800 to every persons $30,227.25 debt.

Politics and economics sadly go hand in hand:

http://zfacts.com/p/318.html

My own country was debt FREE until Pierre Trudeau came to power. Canada has been really responsible fiscally in the past 10 years and we're in good shape. It's unfortunate that were so tied to the US economy, although that is shrinking.

Notice here that our clock is actually going down:

here in nevada they rebated 300 bucks per person that has a car registered in the state, now two years later our budget is busted and looks like we'll have to raise tuition at college and cut the school budget. good job rebate.

Unfortunately a lot of world markets are tied to the US. This is why Asian stocks are falling as well as Europe. The UK lost £60 billion off shares yesterday...

I'm pretty sure my son will get it all for diapers and formula, unless I can convince here to have us all go on vacation. I really do not think this is a good idea though. More debt for the nation.

Apparently, the world's investor's don't think it's such a good idea considering the precipitous drops in the stock markets around the globe coupled with the reports about the lack of confidence in the the proposed fiscal policy (economics, mods, economics). :)
