Rome perhaps?

Of course its in Rome! (Why does Rome have to look so darn "Roman"?)

Good thing about Rome is that there are a ton of landmarks, so at least you still have to search to get it figured out.

You're good at this! You are correct. The building is the old senate building (Palazzo Senatorio) on Capitoline Hill.

Of course Rome has plenty to see and every corner has history. What an amazing city.

Being an atheist I'm not necessarily the best-informed about these things, but does the mural over the door on the right imply this is more likely to be a catholic church than a baptist or presbyterian church?

In which case I'll vote for:
St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2223 St. Anthony Road, Quincy, Adams County, Illinois

(And that also has the advantage of being relatively near where Ken lives...)

Which brings me to why I used that reference: A family friend (whom doesn't speak English very well) had ordered an airline ticket from London to San Diego, CA...when meeting her at the airport in San Diego she was nowhere to be found, and it had turned out that she was in Santiago, Chile.

And I thought my best friend was bad when we left Chicago and headed to Indiana University. I left about 4 hours before he did. He left in the early evening, and I got a phone call at about 1 AM. I headed outside expecting it was Eric telling me he needed help with luggage.

Turns out it was Eric telling me he was running a few hours behind. He apparently drove WEST, not EAST and didn't realize it until he crossed the Mississippi! But at least he wasn't on the wrong CONTINENT!!

I had a laugh not long after I moved to Maidenhead. My mum was coming to visit the new house for the first time, but she went to Maidstone instead. Fortunately that's "only" about 75 miles away... Your family friend's achievement was in a different league!

Turns out it was Eric telling me he was running a few hours behind. He apparently drove WEST, not EAST and didn't realize it until he crossed the Mississippi! But at least he wasn't on the wrong CONTINENT!!That reminds me of another couple of my mum's exploits.

If you visualise the M25 London Orbital motorway as a clock face, my mum lives about 20 miles outside at 3 o'clock, my sister lives about 10 miles inside at 6 o'clock, and I live about 10 miles outside at 9 o'clock. So if my mum's coming to my place, it doesn't really make a big difference whether she goes clockwise or anti-clockwise - it's 90 miles either way - but the northern section (anti-clockwise) is generally a bit less congested. However, when she's going to my sister's, it does make a big difference.

You know what's coming now, don't you? This time she was going to my sister's house, but turned onto the M25 anti-clockwise as if she was going to my house. That turned a 60 mile journey into a 120 mile journey. Apparently it didn't occur to her that the junction numbers were decreasing when they should have been increasing...

Or maybe it did occur to her, but she didn't care. Because her other famous exploit was when she missed the junction for my sister's house, but she reasoned that the M25 is a circle, right, so if she just keeps on going she'll get to that junction again. Well, yes, but it's a circle that's 120 miles round. So that trip to my sister's house ended up being 180 miles!

Thanks Stewart! That makes me laugh because I can identify! I too live just north of a large "By-Pass", I-270 (55.2 miles around per Google), and I hear about this kind of thing all the time, people going the wrong way that is.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone intentionally driving all the away around knowing they would come back to the same exit eventually! That is hilarious! I thought you were going to say that when she missed the exit she decided to come visit you instead, rather than turn around that is...

I'm going to give it to Pete if he'd like to take it, as I will be gone for the rest of the day. I am actually at Roam Free Park, just north of Chamberlain,SD.
