it's still very much a work-in-progress, but, I thought that I'd put it up for c&c so I don't get too far down the wrong path. I set it up through smugmug and I've been doing my best to customize it, though I don't know the first thing about HTML. Smugmug has a lot of good copy/paste codes that have gotten me this far.

A couple things i know that I need to change and just haven't done yet:

1. name on top is too unreadable. need to make it a brighter color.
2. tags on the galleries page are unreadable with the theme style that I have chosen.

anything else you could recommend is greatly appreciated.

I think the website works well enough. I can navigate without being confused and get to the images I want easily enough. However, I don't think it looks polished yet, it's a bit non uniform with the images and layout but you said you were still working on it so I'll reserve that until you've finished. :)

Got some feedback yesterday that my website was running too slowly. I've accessed it from a few different computers and haven't noticed this problem.
However, I have read others saying that smugmug tends to be on the slower side. Anyone else having this problem when visiting my site?

The site looks good - not a bad start :smile:
I have used smugmug for over two years - every once in a great while it is a
problem in the server/internet world, but 98% of the time is huge success.
I have done several customizations for photographers and no compliants on there ends.
Also, try to place the e-mail link as a footer - it would look much better there.

For your site, I would recommend have the banner on every page :smile:
