Excellent focus and DOF!
What lens have you used for this shot?

Beautifully done. I give you credit for getting in that close. I got bit by one of those years ago. Not fun!

I, too, am curious about the lens and other EXIF info.

Ok I don't own a Macro for my 10D, so I had to use another camera, with a wide angle and macro capable, exposure recorded at 1/50sec, f7.1 80ISO and a 12mm focal length. This was a particularly large specimen; slightly over 6 in. and in this part of the Island they are abundant. It entered my house and I couldn't resist making a few shots of such fascinating item. They are very tough and quick, so making them 'pose' is out of the question, unless you're willing to tie its hands! So I calmed this guy down with ALMOST hot water, as he went into some sort of sleep, and though still with movement, remained in the same spot. After a few shots in "natural pose" with homemade lighting, I turned it upside down, and found two blue legs around it's feeding mechanism, which by the way did not belong to him, but to a smaller and very poisonous centipede. (I have been a victim of both, and the little blue ones are very painful; some people have violent reactions to it's venom, and local hospitals see their share of centipede bite patients.) Anyhow, the big guy must've had a little one for lunch, or at least a fierce battle -a very one sided one- ensued within the perimeter of my humble domicile.... must you need visual reassurance of this fact, please observe the newly submitted graphic material. Aloha!

Good Gosh!! I think if I found one of those in my house I would high tail it back to the mainland without benefit of an airplane if necessary!!!

I remember a few years staying in a motel in Florida and at about 4 AM feeling something crawling up my leg under the covers. I immediately demonstrated an amazing feat of levitation. When the sheets and blankets settled to the floor, I found a small lizard looking more scared than I was. At least I don't think he was poisonous.

Occasionally I find a milliped or centiped in the house here. They sure are fast when you try to catch them. But the cat has a ball with them.
