Howdy. As you can tell I'm new here, but not new to forums. This being a photography forum, a lot of items dont become 'dated' like normal forums. ie: a great picture 5 months ago, is probably still a great picture!!
I've been looking thru and would find images that I thought were nice and wanted to compliment, or saw something and wanted to offer my amatuer opinions etc, but I really was afraid to do it for older posts.
Is there an 'official' rule about this? Is it encouraged to go ahead and reply to an old thread? Now I'm not talking about bumping your own threads and such (there are plugins that can keep that from happening with VB anyway).
Just wondered what the stance was.
Thanks for the time!

i think you can do what you please. If there is a thread that you can post in do so, no matter how old it is. Just ask the local thread necromancer MDJAK. He does it all the time.

On photos, I don't think it's a problem.
On some other topics, you might want to pay attention to the dates. For example, before Christmas this year there were several threads resurrected with purchasing advice. Problem being the original question had been asked more than a year before -- for Christmas 2006. :o
Every now and then there will be a resurrection with a response to an "urgent" question. Problem being that the urgent question was often asked months, if not years before. Often times the new discussion will continue for a while someone points out that surely the problem had been resolved in the previous XX months.
All in all, we're a pretty decent group of people. From a former employee and long time enthusiast of the Mouse, I say welcome, and enjoy!

OK, thanks was going to reference a necro but didnt know how that would work :D.
And I do understand on the 'dated' threads, no problem there!

If they point you at anything involving:
crop factor
filters vs. hoods
separating kid pictures out of the people section
a photoshopped picture of the new 1 series body, including any suspiciously science fiction like buttonsRUN!!!!

Skip, now I can see why you entered law enforcement. You probably didn't do too well in music, huh?  ;)
Since you couldn't keep a beat in music, you found some other way to get into a beat.

Bleh.. only 6 of 15 mods have chimed in :). Although, granted usually when you have that many mods in your thread, it's a bad thing.
Oh... um... Is this a bad thing?? :o:confused:

The other 9 mods are on standby with their SWAT gear on, just in case, but we figured 6 mods should be enough to put you in your proper place if you decide to cause trouble here.
