I am new to photography. I just bought a used 20D and have been given a external flash, (Promaster FTD 5200) that was for a 35mm camera.
When I put the flash on the camera the red focus light will appear but the flash will not go off when I take the picture? Are these 2 compatible? If so what settings should I be using to get them to sync?
Thanks for any help
Dave

Dave, most likely, they are not compatable, but maybe in manual mode, if any.

Also, there is a post somewhere about compatability that goes into great detail about all the little contacts on the underside of the flash feet that was interesting. Been a while, and I have no idea where I saw it, though. Beware of using one on a camere unless you are sure, as it COULD cause voltage/surge problems- so I'm told.

Dave, first question is...is the dedicated module a Canon module (either AF Module CN or Module CN)?
