Hello all.

I'm just getting back into the photo thing after a log hiatus. I just got my first dSLR, a 40D. Way back when I used to shoot on film, I'd say a good 99% of the time I was outdoors. I know a good deal about photography, but when it comes to indoor "studio" shooting and lighting, I'm a complete n00b. I mean, I'm like Job; I don't even know where to begin to research this stuff.

I'm looking to do maybe some portrait and maybe some amatuer glamor stuff, and I'd like to build a small setup in an extra room in my house. Nothing really big or fancy, just enough to get the ball rolling. So, what kinda stuff do I need? What are the "best" brands? Cheapo brands? Brands to stay away from? That sorta thing.

Thanks a bunch in advance! :D

Just be sure to let us know what you come up with- and how it works out for you.

I recently got the same idea going, and ordered a small studio setup from RPS Studio. I am having a bunch of fun with it. My initial review is at the following link:
