I was thinking that it would be nice to have seperate section dedicated to Kids/Children.
Am I the only one who thinks this?

My children range in age 28 to 32, I also have a grandson that is 5 but above all they are all people. Also some are married, some are on sports teams. How would you decide which photo goes where? What about children in sports. Do we have a line on the wall that says; "In order to be posted in this section you must be blow this line."?
The subject has been beaten to death without resolution.

Yes, you are the only one that thinks this,
....you are totally alone.

I can almost hear the floodgates opening... :-)

Funny I was going to suggest the same thing. A subsection of People but for kids. I wouldn't have any problem with senior photos and the like, but sometimes the number of snapshot-ish photos purely for ooohs, aaahs, and how cutes is a bit much.
Maybe rules sort of like G&N has that limit the types of responses would be nice.

It has been said many times before. A new forum is never created to move a certain genre of photos OUT of a forum because some are tired of looking at them. Just move on to the next thread. How hard is that ?

It's probably just easier to skip that section altogether any more anyway.
This site is pretty unique if a new forum is never created out of an existing one as some sort of subset from the original.

I think you misread Tommy's post.

That's not what he said. What he said was that a new forum isn't created because a subset of people are tired of looking at a particular kind of picture being posted in the forum. "I'm tired of looking at kid pics. Put them somewhere else so I don't have to look at them."
That's dramatically different from there being a group of photographers who post a volume of work distinct enough from the original forum, and who wish for it to be posted into a new forum. "Bird photographers are posting a significant volume of the shots in the Nature/Animals section. Can we create a new forum for bird photography."

I think he assumed I'm just tired of looking at them.

And how was he supposed to interpret your post, if not that way?

I merely stated the photos that are posted merely for the ooohs, aaaahs, etc were a bit much. I even qualify my post by saying, "Maybe rules sort of like G&N has that limit the types of responses would be nice."
I'm not sure how that gives the indication that I am just "tired of looking" at pictures of kids.

There is clearly a difference between sharing works of photography on a photography forum, and showing snap shots of the family on a social sharing site.
Unfortunately a lot of members here are unable to tell the difference, and no one is able to define it.
So heres a snap shot of my cat:

So where's the work of photography of that same cat, just so we can make a comparison and know which is which. ;)

Judging by the current trend, he'd simply have to multi expose the image, HDR/tonemap, and voila
