I think #3 using channel mixer 1 came out the best. #2 lightness channel seems too dark, and #4 channel mixer 2 seems too contrasty.

First one in colour is the best for me - digital B&W seldom really grabs me like a quality B&W print. #4 is best of B&W but then I like contrast.

Well, I'm not on a calibrated monitor, but #4 looks too dark/contrasty to me. #2 too light, lacking in definition and seems flat. #3 looks the best imho.

Hey Dave, you just copied my answer. :)
I was out your way this morning. Churchill doing a site inspection. Just before lunch went by Queen's Park/Gardens? Whatever the name. There was a little Japanese-type garden in there. Starts with "N". Got my best ever dragonfly shots yet. Will process and post tonight.

Good ones - using flash nearly always results in a warmer tone than that seen in daylight.
Think they would all look a bit better if the face was a bit over to the left in the pics.

Ah sorry Troy - missed this post (haven't been much on POTN the past few days). We should meet up sometime and I'm looking forward to seeing the DF images. I've been meaning to go down to Queens park for some time, but no car and no public transport on Sundays kills it...cos of my dad's health I usually spend most of Saturday going shopping with him...

That little visit was a little random. If I have enough warning, I'll PM you or something.

I like #4 the best just because of the strong contrast
