Yes, money is definately a factor.
Is there any major advantages that the 580EXii offers over the 580ex?
Using XTi (soon to be 40d). Mostly for nightclub photography but also want to get into using multi lighting scenes with the 430ex as a slave.

Well as far as money goes, I usually see the 580EX going for about $300 in the market section and you can get a new 580EX II for $329 from B&H (I think the deal is still on, if not they are $350 from amazon). So thats not that much of a price difference and I say go with the 580EX II!
