There are a lot choices! Personally I use PTassembler and sometime Hugin!

The greatest stitching program in existance is probably a little program called "autostitch". ILM licenses the code for proprietary Lucasarts CGI, if that says anything. You can find it here:

If you can afford to drop a huge load of cash on a stitching program, there are probably slightly better alternatives out there. But for free? You can't beat autostitch. I often wonder why Photoshop doesn't sublicence their algorithm; it beats the pants off of CS3's native stitching support.

The pano routine in CS3 is awfully darn good. It's really more of a panorama "assembler" than it is a stitcher. It only takes the pieces of each frame that it needs to make it seamless.
